More About In-Home Nursing

We’ve answered some of the most common questions we get about our nursing support service below. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, feel free to reach out to our care staff – we’ll be happy to help.

There is a difference between regular at-home carers and in-home nurses. While regular carers can be anyone, including family members, in-home nurses are health professionals who are qualified to address the complex care needs of clients.

There are a few different types of nurses:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) – This is what you typically think of when ‘nurse’ comes to mind. They have undergone a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and have completed six months of practical training.
  • Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) – A registered nurse can undergo extra training to specialise in a certain area. They can prescribe certain medications.
  • Enrolled Nurse (EN) –An enrolled nurse who has worked at a hospital for a year or longer.
  • Endorsed Enrolled Nurse (EEN) –This is an enrolled nurse who has undergone training for administering medication.
  • Assistant in Nursing (AIN) – This person is not a nurse; rather, they are able to assist Registered and Enrolled Nurses. Personal caregivers and support workers at aged care facilities and in-home services often fall under this category.

At Endeavor In Home Care, we have a team of enrolled and registered nurses who are able to provide quality medical support for our clients.

The answer will depend on your unique situation and medical needs. There are some aspects of care that only a nurse can do, such as medication, and having a trained professional to oversee your care can be a relief to many clients and their families. If you have any medical concerns or want to ensure that you receive quality health care, it may be a good idea to consider an in-home nurse.

We offer our nursing care services on both a one-off or regular basis, allowing you to choose when and where you need assistance.

The cost of your in-home nursing care will differ depending on your medical needs and the support services you require. You may be able to receive financial support from government programs such as Home Care Packages, the NDIS, and the Commonwealth Health Support Program (CHSP). Our team will be able to provide more information about the options available to you during your initial meeting.

Home Care Packages are designed to help older Australians live comfortably at home and are broken up into four levels: Basic Care Needs, Low Care Needs, Intermediate Care Needs, and High Care Needs. Your case manager will be able to help you determine what Home Care Package best suits your situation and coordinate your care services so that you don’t have to worry about a thing.

We are a registered NDIS provider in Melbourne and our support coordinators can help with any services or questions you may have.
